We are located near the Elkhorn Mountains, the Helena National
Forest, and Canyon Ferry Lake. We love to take advantage of our
wonderful surroundings: fishing on the historic Missouri River,
and camping and hiking on seemingly endless miles of mountains.
It is in these surroundings that we work and play, and we hope
that you enjoy the fruits of our labor.
We use only the finest logs from dead standing trees. We never
use fallen or live trees. Most of the trees we use are lodgepole
pine, ponderosa pine, and on occasion, Douglas fir and cedar. Each
log is peeled by hand using a draw knife, and then sanded smooth.
We utilize the finest building techniques such as mortise and tenon
joinery and dovetailed joints. We like to add quality touches such
as waterproof glue, oil based polyurethane, and fine hardware:
Amerock hinges and 100 pound rated drawer slides. Over the years
we have added many fine tools to our workshop and this is evident
in the finished products.
All log furniture has checking. This is the natural process of
the wood cracking as it loses moisture. Checking does not affect
the integrity of the logs. We offer several types of pine for some
of our pieces: kiln dried pine, which is a lighter color which
may have knots; blue pine which can vary widely from light streaks
of color to intensely dark blue and brown; and slab pine which
can be very light with a yellow hue to very dark blue. If you have
a preference, please let us know and we will do our best to find
just the right wood for you. In any case, each log is very pretty
and unique in its own way.
In some cases, if we run low on stock, we will have to make your
furniture and will let you know right away if there will be a delay.
Many of the larger pieces such as beds, couches, etc. are custom
made. In that case, we would require a deposit of one half the
cost which we would negotiate at the time of your order. This deposit
is non-refundable once we start to build your furniture.
If you are looking for something unique that you do not see here,
please contact us and we will do our best to provide it. We would
love to hear from you with new ideas! |
